A Safe and Effective Technique for Most Shoulder Procedures
Arthroscopic shoulder surgery is one of the most commonly performed procedures in the United States today. The beach chair position is a reliable, safe, and effective position to perform nearly all types of shoulder arthroscopic procedures. In the beach chair position, the patient is positioned on their side with the operative extremity elevated and supported by a padded armholder. The head is supported by a headrest, and the opposite arm is placed in a relaxed position. This position provides excellent access to the shoulder joint and allows the surgeon to visualize and repair the damaged tissues. The beach chair position is a versatile position that can be used for a variety of shoulder procedures, including: * Rotator cuff repair * Labral repair * Biceps tenodesis * Shoulder decompression * Glenoid reconstruction The beach chair position is well-tolerated by patients and provides a safe and effective way to perform shoulder arthroscopic procedures.
